Eyelid surgery is an aesthetic operation performed on the upper lids, lower lids or both. The symptoms can make you look  sad or older than it is. What you should know before the Eyelid Surgery?

One week before the eyelid surgery, you should stop to use aspirin or similar drugs. The eyelid opera-tion may be a risky for these who has problems such as: high blood pressure, hypertension, thyroid diseases, dry eyes. You have to share your medical story with your doctor.

How Is Upper Eyelid Surgery Performed?

The upper eyelid surgery is performed under the local anesthesia. You stay awake during the surgery and you wont feel any pain.

The duration of eyelid surgery is 1-2 hours. After anesthesia, the surgeons will make an incision over the natural lines if its upper eyelid surgery, and under the eyelashes if its the lower eyelid surgery. These incisions will separate skin, fat and skin tissue. The excess muscle and skin tissue will be remo-ved. The incisions will be closed thinly.

How Is Lower Eyelid Surgery Performed?

With age, the fat layer on the cheekbones moves down by the effect of gravity. It can cause subsiden-ce under the lower eyelid.

Before to decide to make lower eyelid surgery, the fat layer on the cheekbones should be filled by Botox or filler. If anything wont be changed you should perform the lower eyelid operation. The sur-gical incision will be made below the eyelashes. The surgeons will open it  from the fat tissue till the eye cavity, and will take  the excess skin. If after surgery the collapse will continue to be, it will be required an injection under the eye.

What You Should Know After Eyelid Surgery?

After the eyelid surgery, the bands will be placed on the eyelids. The bands will be on the eyelids, and they wont block your vision. After the operation you should apply the cold compress. The operation can cause bruising and swelling which is a common occurance after surgery. It is important to use the medications and creams prescribed by your doctor.

After the surgery you should keep your head high it will reduces edema. In the first days after opera-tion it is normal to have: tension, stinging, burning (arround the eyes). You will take a painkillers.

At the 5. Day after operation the bands and stitches will be removed. After it, you can wash your face around the eye and apply moisturizer to your eyelids. The important thing is that you will do it slowly.
